Savory Words Publishing
As a specialty publisher, Savory Words publishes only a select few books each year (print and/or digital), all by Deaf authors. This helps ensure that each book is the very best it can be.
Savory Words Publishing was established in 2013 after T.S. Writing Services owner Trudy Suggs realized there was a need for a Deaf-centric book publisher. She also knew that such a publisher would be a great way to expand the number of books by Deaf authors available to the community, reframing the community’s narrative through a Deaf lens. The company was established as a sister company during TS. Writing’s 10th anniversary. Today, Savory Words has published multiple books in both print and digital formats.
TRUDY SUGGS, OWNER
Countless photographs of Trudy Suggs as a child shows her either reading or writing. Today she is often found reading books of all genres in both print and digital formats when she isn’t working with T.S. Writing Services or juggling her determined children’s schedules. She authored a book with Penguin Publishers, edited numerous books for other publishing companies, wrote content for several books, and provided the foreword for numerous books. She believes in the importance of telling stories and authenticity and is excited to preserve her community’s stories through Savory Words Publishing.
EDITORS & REVIEWERS
A team consisting of genre-specific editors and reviewers works on each manuscript submission. Each team member is a professional within the community and/or genre, and brings valuable insight and feedback to the publishing process.
Each and every book published through Savory Words is written by a Deaf author. All contents are written, illustrated, designed, and edited by Deaf people.
